PERMANENT BROWS
What are some things that would ABSOLUTELY prevent me from being a good candidate for permanent makeup (brows, eyeliner, lips) or permanent makeup removal ?
- Pregnancy/breast feeding - NO EXCEPTIONS
- Use of Accutane (acne medication) - must discontinue for 1 year before getting
any permanent makeup procedures.
- Hemophilia- Bleeding Disorder
- Trichotillomania - Compulsive pulling of body hair or scabs on body
- MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus)
- Heart Conditions/Pacemaker/Defibrillator/Stents
- Organ transplant
- Active Cancer
- HIV, Hepatitis, AIDS
- Advance Thyroid Disease
- Under the age of 18, even with parental approval
What are some things that WOULD REQUIRE A DOCTOR’S NOTE OF APPROVAL to allow me to have permanent makeup (brows, eyeliner, lips) or permeant makeup removal done?
- Diagnosed keloid scar
- Epilepsy (seizures)
- Uncontrolled diabetes
- Uncontrolled high blood pressure
- History of chemotherapy or radiation treatments
What are some things that I would need to mention to determine if I would be a good candidate for these procedures?
The following conditions do not prevent you from getting permanent makeup but should be considered when deciding if it is right for you.
- Any active skin disease/condition on the face (cold sores, dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, severe acne in the brow area, actinic keratosis, rosacea, contact dermatitis, shingles, etc.) OR any other skin conditions that are not listed.
- Cirrhosis of the Liver: Susceptible to infection
- Required to spend lengthy amounts of time in the sun: Causes fading quicker and changes in color
- Scar tissue: Scars can be tattooed over, however be aware that scar tissue can prevent proper healing; pigment may not take to the skin at all.
- Platelet Disorders: Causes more bleeding to occur and therefore lower pigment retention.
- Moles/raised areas in or around the area: Pigment will not be put into moles, or anything raised but can be tattooed around it
- Thyroid medications: Potential for faster fading and need for more touch-ups
- Auto Immune Disorder of any kind (MS, RA, Lupus, etc): Due to the medicines to treat these disorders, pigment may not retain well
- Anemia: Will require more touch-ups
- Tanning: May alter color over time
- Accutane: Makes the skin very sensitive to tattooing. MUST be STOP for a year before getting this procedure
- Trichotillomania: Can affect healing and color retention
- Vitiligo (loss of skin color in blotches): Color retention/healing may be affected
- Medications: Can affect color retention and/or healing
* Your overall health in general can play a factor in fading/healing. These guidelines are for your safety and are recommended for the best results possible.
What if I had permanent make up services done by another artist?
- You will be considered a new client and will be required to complete the same process as new clients.
How long can permanent makeup last before needing touchups?
- 1-3 years. Number of years varies on your lifestyle.
If I get permanent BROWS or have to get COLOR CORRECTION for previous permanent brow work, will it change the color of my natural eyebrow hair ?
- These procedures do NOT change the natural color of the hair in your eyebrows. If you have a few grey or white hairs in your brows and choose to undergo the procedure, some options are to pluck the grey/white hairs or use a colored brow gel that is the color of the other hairs in your brows to cover up the grey/white hairs.
If I get permanent BROWS, will it stop my brows from growing?
- You will still have to continue to wax, arch, or thread your natural brows for your new eyebrows to look the BOMB! The good thing is that these procedures will make it easier to wax, arch, or thread your eyebrows because of the permanent outline/shape that will be there.
What do I need to do to prepare before a permanent BROW appointment ?
- It is best to do a scrub 3 days before the procedure. This will help remove all dead skin to allow for optimal healing and retention.
- Make sure you are hydrated
- Do NOT work out the day of the procedure
- Do NOT drink caffeine (i.e., coffee, soda pops, etc.) on the day of the procedure
- Do NOT tan or spend any lengthy time in direct sunlight two weeks prior to the procedure
- Do NOT take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, Fish oil or Ibuprofen 1 week prior to the procedure. Please consult with your physician if you are required to take these daily or frequently for medical reasons. If you must take these, there is a possibility that you may require additional sessions to get better pigment retention.
- Do NOT arch, wax, thread, or tint eyebrows 2-3 weeks prior to the procedure
- NO alcohol the night prior or on the day of procedure
- NO Botox for 4 weeks prior or on the day of the procedure
- NO use of any Retin-A or AHA products for 2 weeks prior to the procedure
- NO lasers or chemical peels for 1 month prior to the procedure
- NO microdermabrasion or dermaplaning for 2 weeks prior to the procedure
What should I expect at and immediately after a color correction BROW appointment?
- You will need to come to the appointment with a bare and clean face.
- The session can last from 1 1⁄2 to 2 1/2 hours (varies on color and skin integrity)
- This session involves implanting a specific color pigment to neutralize the color to create a color shift to a more natural color.
- The color of your brows will change over the healing process.
- NO ANESTHETICS (numbing gels) are provided. If you would like to have this for your procedure, you may purchase your own. It is recommended that you read the anesthetic ingredients to check for possible allergies before purchasing. Also please read the directions for proper application. Some anesthetics/numbing gels can take from 30 minutes to 1 hour to have the most optimal effect, thus a reason why this is not provided. If you decide to purchase an anesthetic/numbing gel, please apply BEFORE your appointment. Numbing gels work differently per person. Only a small amount/tube is needed.
What should I expect at and immediately after my permanent BROW appointment?
- You will need to come to the appointment with a bare and clean face.
- The initial session can last 3 1⁄2 to 4 hours.
- This session involves custom eyebrow mapping after your approval of the shape followed by permanent blading and/or shading of both eyebrows.
- The pigment color choice is client- specific and mixed using a selection of micro- pigments to complement hair color and skin tone.
- Immediate post session, your eyebrows will appear darker, but will lighten up during the healing process to a more natural look over the following 4 - 8 weeks

MS Bella Brows and Beauty clients that have NOT used numbing gels report the procedure being tolerable. Honestly, about 95% of them have gone to sleep during the procedure, even my 65+ year old clients. The other 5%, just like to talk while getting their procedure done LOL. If you feel you have any anxiety about undergoing this procedure, please feel free to reach out to me.
What is the
aftercare for my permanent BROWS ?
- The aftercare is simple! It will consist of cleaning brows with Cetaphil FACIAL soap and sterile water followed by moisturizing them with grapeseed oil, coconut oil, or LIGHT use of Aquaphor. Detailed instructions will be given at your appointment. Aftercare may be customized.
What are some aftercare TIPS for my BROWS?
- Make sure your hands are clean before touching your brows.
- Make sure your pillowcase is clean/fresh during your 14 days of healing.
- Be mindful of sleeping patterns – Try your best not to sleep on the side of your face.
- Be careful when putting on/off shirts (don’t let clothing rub brows)
- DO NOT pick scabs or brush scabs off for ANY REASON. Itching, “scab-like” formations and flaking may appear during the first 7 days post-procedure. This is natural and common.
- Make sure you use a clean Q-tip or cotton pad/ball for EACH BROW when cleaning/moisturizing your brows to prevent cross contamination
How long does it take for permanent make up (lips, brows, eyeliner) to fully heal ?
- It can take up to 6-8 weeks for full healing
What are my RESTRICTIONS after getting my permanent makeup (brows, eyeliner, lips) and permanent brow removal?
AVOID for 14 days after your procedure
• Water on the eyebrows! -- Except when cleaning them.
o When washing your face, be careful! Use a washcloth or cleansing wipes. Avoid the procedure area.
o When bathing/showering, avoid getting the room hot/steaming.
o Try to limit time in shower to no longer than 5-6 mins.
o If you decide to shower, keep your face away from the showerhead as much as possible.
o If you find it difficult to keep your face away from the showerhead, you may use an eyebrow shower visor.
• Touching of the procedure area except for when rinsing and/or applying the post-care products with a cotton swab
• Sweating
• Exercising
• Practicing sports
• Swimming
• Hot sauna, hot bath, or Jacuzzi
• Picking, peeling, or scratching the procedure area. You will cause scarring of the area or removal of the pigment if you pick or peel scabs prematurely.
• Performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning such as cleaning garage, cleaning basement, or cleaning of any place where there is a lot of airborne debris – now is not the time!
• Excessive spicy food eating
• Smoking
• Drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds
• Driving in open-air vehicles such as convertibles, boats, bicycles, or ATV/ motorcycles. This can dry out the skin too much as well as allow airborne debris to enter open areas
• Use any cleansers or facial products of any kind over the procedure area
• Sunscreen on procedure area
• Makeup on procedure area
• Hair over eyebrows or eyes
• Absolutely do not use any OTHER ointments, antibiotic creams or gels, or vitamin creams over the brow area – it will draw out the pigment.
AVOID for 4 weeks after your procedure
• Sun tanning or salon tanning
• Direct or prolong sun exposure (No beach trips ☹)
• Any facial, laser, chemical treatments/peelings, microdermabrasion, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic Acid on the face or neck
AVOID FOREVER
• Use of Retin-A, Renova, Alpha Hydroxy or Glyocolic Acids DIRECTLY on brows
COVID-19 VACCINATIONS/BOOSTERS
-If you plan to have the vaccination or booster shot, please NOTE:
- NO permanent makeup procedures should be done BETWEEN the first and second doses
- If you plan to take the vaccination, you will need to wait at least 14 days AFTER your FINAL permanent makeup session to have your vaccination/booster shot.
How long do I wait between each procedure to return for another session (follow up and touch ups) ?
- You may return NO EARLIER than 8 weeks
Will I need more than one color correction session for my brows?
More than 1 touch up session can be dependent upon:
• How saturated/dark the brows are
• Your willingness to follow the aftercare
• How deep the ink/pigment was implanted
More than 1 touch up session may be required IF there is:
• Frequent prolong/excessive exposure to sun such as
- Tanning outdoors
• Pigment rejection/poor pigment retention
- Everyone heals different. Unfortunately, I cannot predict the outcomes of retention, but I can provide you with custom aftercare instructions to give you the most optimal results within my control. I also take pride in using very high-quality pigments.
• Poor compliance with aftercare
More than 1 touch up session may be required IF you have:
• Platelet disorder
• Anemia
• Auto-immune disorder
More than 1 touch up session may be required IF you:
• Wanting a darker color
• Are a frequent smoker
• Work in settings that causes you to sweat such as a factory or outdoors
• Take certain medications or take many medications
o The following medications can result in poor pigment retention.
o If you take any of these regularly you should not get permanent makeup:
§ Triflusal (Disgren)
§ Clopidogrel (Plavix)
§ Prasugrel (Effient)
§ Ticagrelor (Brilinta)
§ Ticlopidine (Ticlid)
§ Cilostazol (Pletal)
§ Vorapaxar (Zontivity)
§ Dipyridamole (Persantine)
§ Coumadin
§ Pradaxia (Dabigatran)
§ Xarelto (Rivaroxaban)
§ Eliquis (Apixaban)
§ Savaysa (Edoxaban)
• Take thyroid medications
Please note that these additional sessions will require payment.
What should I expect while my brows are healing after color correction?
- Your eyebrows will go through several phases which include color transitions during the healing cycle. Everyone’s healing can be different. You may go thru some stages faster or slower. Don’t hesitate to send pictures if you have concerns or questions.
Days 1-4:
The pigment will appear very dark because of the oxidation process. The pigment is still sitting on top of your skin and has not yet settled in completely. The color of the pigment will soften gradually. Do not be alarmed if you see some pigment on the cotton swab, as this is excess pigment and/or body fluid that is naturally exiting your skin. In rare cases, your brows may swell and appear larger also.
Days 5-7:
Once the healing of the skin starts taking place, it will look like dandruff flakes or dry skin. Although depending on amount of melanin in your skin, it may appear like a scab. Also during this period, you may get the impression that the pigment is coming off or is fading too quickly. This is just superficial color and dry skin being naturally removed from your eyebrows. DO NOT pick any scabs or dry areas that may form. This may cause you to lose color or damage your skin. You may apply a GRAIN SIZE amount of oil or Aquaphor 2x a day if needed throughout the healing process if scabs are too dry and itchy. Remember your eyebrows should NOT appear glossy after you have applied oil or Aquaphor.
Up to 8-12 weeks:
Your brows will continue go thru color changes. Wait it out to see the final color. Additional sessions of correcting the color may be needed OR a targeted color may be implanted only after the color shift is neutralized enough. In some cases, if the color cannot be neutralized enough removal sessions maybe recommended to lift/lighten the pigment followed by applying a targeted color.
What are some TIPS BEFORE BOOKING my color correction brow session?
* REVIEW THE BEFORE, AFTERCARE, and RESTRICTION Information
* Consider the following:
1) Vacation/trips/events planned on your calendar.
2) Future facial treatments of any kind or tanning appointments on your calendar.
3) COVID-19 vaccination or booster dates. If you plan to have the vaccination or booster shot, please NOTE: NO permanent makeup procedures should be done BETWEEN the first and second doses OR you will need to wait at least 14 days AFTER your FINAL permanent makeup session to have your vaccination/booster shot.
4) 14-day restriction and general care period. You may encounter some restrictions that last up to 4 weeks – (See Restrictions and Aftercare Information)
5) Allow 6-8 weeks for complete healing of brows (after EACH session).
6) Try not (if you can help it) to schedule appointments while on your menstrual cycle. This MAY have an increased risk of poor color retention during healing and/or increase sensitivity to pain tolerance during the procedure.
What are some MAINTENANCE TIPS to keep my brows looking good?
1) Excessive/prolong sun exposure can cause the color pigment to fade quickly
a. Lightly apply FACIAL sunscreen (SPF 30 up to SPF 50) to eyebrows when outdoors. This is only done AFTER you have completely healed (6-8 weeks later).
b. DO NOT use the kind of sunscreen for the body on your brows
c. Wear a hat/cap to block sun exposure
2) Reduce the frequency and/or duration of tanning (sun or tanning booths/salons)
3) Getting a touch up/color boost once a year
4) When applying makeup foundation, AVOID your eyebrows.
a. If foundation covers the healed eyebrows, your eyebrows will appear lighter.

Saline solution is a common, effective approach to lightning unwanted tattoos. However, it is a slower process than other treatments, this method is popular because it is much safer than other removal procedures.
Li-FT is an all-natural, safe yet powerful and effective hypertonic saline lightning solution that contains no chemicals and no acids. This service is done using the same traditional equipment (machine, needles, etc) used in the tattooing process. However, instead of pigment, this saline solution is implanted into the skin. A sterile solution is tattooed into the skin to make the skin reject the pigment.
